In this unit, we examine exactly what it means to be part of a business ecosystem. We also look at how organisations can create digital business models, what it means to be a disruptor and what factors make up the crucial difference between your organisation thriving or floundering in the digital age. Lastly, we’ll cover the importance of using appropriate operating models and ensuring all employees are digitally adept.

- What an ecosystem is and its important characteristics, including mutuality, orchestration and value creation. We will also look at the different types of ecosystems and how the development of digital technology has allowed them to flourish.
- We will then look at a business framework suitable for businesses operating in the digital world and closely examine the constituent parts, seeing how organisations create and capture value.
- Finally, we look at what it means to be a disruptor in the marketplace, how businesses can flourish in the digital world by looking at the skill sets needed by their staff and leaders, as well as at new operating models that businesses can use to succeed in the modern business environment.
As well as learning the key concepts, this course will provide practical exercises to ensure that you can use the information you learn and apply it to your own professional career and organisation. By the end of this unit, you will understand what it means to be a digital organisation and be able to help your own organisation create value in the digital world.
